The Harris Galveston Subsidence District will hold the 43rd Annual Public Hearing on groundwater use and subsidence on May 1st, 2018. The Harris-Galveston Subsidence District is a special purpose district created by the Texas Legislature in 1975. The District was created to provide for the regulation of groundwater withdrawal throughout Harris and Galveston Counties for the purpose of preventing land subsidence, which can contribute to flooding.
Annually, the District is required to hold a public hearing where the status of groundwater withdrawal and subsidence is presented. The 43rd Annual Groundwater Report Public Hearing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on May 1 , 2018 at our District office located at 1660 West Bay Area Boulevard in Friendswood, TX. Information presented during the public hearing includes: 2017 reported water-use, 2017-2018 aquifer water-levels, 2017 measured subsidence rates, and long-term trends.
