The Harris-Galveston Subsidence District commends Dr. Tina Petersen for her work and dedication serving as the Deputy General Manager and wishes her well in her new role as the Executive Director of the Harris County Flood Control District.
“Dr. Petersen’s leadership has made a profound impact on the Subsidence District, and while it’s hard to see her go, this move is great for Harris County and the region.” General Manager Mike Turco said.
During her time at the Subsidence District, Dr. Petersen led the Joint Regulatory Plan Review, elevated the Water Conservation programs through launching the Grant Program and expanding the Water Detectives school program, migrated District operations to a new permitting platform. In addition, Dr. Petersen oversaw Science and Research initiatives, such as the Annual Groundwater Report, the Spring Creek flooding study, and InSAR subsidence research.
Dr. Petersen also impacted many other areas of the District’s day-to-day operations, and the staff will miss her as she transitions to her next role.
“I applaud the leadership at Harris County for selecting her for this role, and we look forward to continuing working with the Harris County Flood Control District on resiliency efforts for our region,” Turco said.
