The Harris-Galveston Subsidence District, in collaboration with the Fort Bend Subsidence District, will virtually host a stakeholder meeting for the Joint Regulatory Plan Review (JRPR) on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 10:00 am.

The 2023 Joint Regulatory Plan Review is based on the development of population and demand projections, assessment of alternative water supplies, and the development of an updated groundwater model for assessing aquifer drawdown and subsidence. These three components will allow for evaluating the current regulatory plans and assessing the need for any adjustments required to manage subsidence in the future. This meeting will examine the regional results of the population projection methodology that combines a long-term regional forecast developed by the University of Houston and a near-term, local methodology by Metrostudy. These results are currently being adapted to utility-specific projections by Freese and Nichols and will be released to stakeholders for review using an ArcGIS web map in conjunction with an outreach process to develop final projections.
